Q&A: What’s worse: The actions of Bill Belichick, or the New York Jets fans?

Question by Jim Jackson: What’s worse: The actions of Bill Belichick, or the New York Jets fans?
I’m a life long New York Jets fan, but come on!! Are you telling me that the media is more outraged about the Patriots “cheating” over the Jets fans mocking Chad Pennington for getting injured again? Especialy in light of what happened to the Buffalo Bills player the same day? Yes, the Patriots clearly violated the rules and should be punished as such. They gained an unfair advantage clearly evidenced by the Jets being well prepared, and played as such on offense, but their defensive signals were being spyed on and they couldn’t even touch Brady (which has never happened in any Pats/Jets game, whoever won.) But even as a Jets fan, I can’t say that’s worse than the actions of my fellow Jets fans mocking ANY player for getting hurt, let alone one of their own players. And one of their most successful players at that. I can give you a long list of those sucesses if you want too. Anyways, what do you think? Dont you agree that the worst actions that came from this game came from Jets fans?
Oh, I guess a point was raised about what kind of advantage was gained when the Patriots never got to see the tape. True. Here’s the thing: the NFL has been suspicious about this kind of action from the Patriots which is why they were caught. The NFL was monitoring the Patriots actions after several complaints from other NFL coaches. This time, they were finaly caught. So while this tape was no good for them, they had others from the past they had been using, leading to all of their “success.” If it weren’t for all of those complaints, I doubt the NFL security would have noticed an “innocent” camera man’s actions. They were looking for it, and while this tape was for future use, how many did they have from the past? And yes it did affect this game because Mangini had no idea the advantage his opponents had over him until after the game, or else he would have surely changed the signals to throw them back off. Good point, though.

I thought it was funny when it was happening the commentators were talking about how bad the fans are for cheering someone getting injured and for the back up qb to come in. Then when it came back from the commercial they said the fans were cheering Penningtons effort to walk off the field. You know someone from the nfl talked to them during the commercial.
